Richie Incognito is ready to return to the NFL.

More specifically, the free agent offensive lineman wants to rejoin the Miami Dolphins, the team he was with when he became the center of a bullying scandal that led to his suspension for the final eight games of last season.

“Returning to the Dolphins was my No. 1 goal from the time I got suspended,” Incognito told WSVN Channel 7 in Miami/Fort Lauderdale in a phone interview on Wednesday.

He added: “I want to return to the community in Miami and resume my playing career as soon as possible.”

Incognito and two other Dolphins players were found by an NFL investigation to have engaged in persistent harassment of former teammate Jonathan Martin, who chose to leave the team in October. Martin has since been traded to the San Francisco 49ers.

Soon after the results of the investigation were made public, Incognito went on a Twitter rant against Martin and his agent, then apologized. He also is said to have put several dents in the hood of his own Ferrari in an apparent tantrum.

Soon after, he sought unspecified treatment, which he told WSVN was directly related to the report from the NFL investigation.

“I knew what was in it for months and that’s why I had to go get treatment,” he said.

Incognito returned to Twitter on Tuesday after a month-long break.

Whether that’s with Miami -- “The city I love. The City that has embraced me the last four years,” he told WSVN -- remains to be seen.

The fact that the Dolphins signed former St. Louis guard Shelley Smith as a free agent indicates the team may have moved on.
