Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger makes goofy faces, sets NFL record

Ben Roethlisberger got knocked in the jaw Sunday night. Knocked hard.

So hard that he had to make lots of funny faces just to get it feeling right.

Of course, that proved to be pure Internet gold. This guy hit the nail on the head:

And these were the most appropriate because of what happened after the late hit by Baltimore's Courtney Upshaw that caused Roethlisberger to contort his face into so many funny positions early in the second quarter:

Up until that point, Roethlisberger was having a rough time against the Steelers' bitter rivals, completing seven of nine passes for 30 yards and enduring a stretch of three consecutive sacks.

But as so many people have pointed out all over social media, Big Ben really did turn into Popeye after that play, which was a seven-yard pass to Antonio Brown. Three plays later, Roethlisberger connected with Le'Veon Bell for the first of the quarterback's six touchdown passes on the night.

That would have set a franchise record for touchdown passes in a single game -- if Roethlisberger hadn't already done the same thing a week earlier against the Indianapolis Colts.

So, instead, Roethlisberger now owns the NFL record for most touchdown passes in consecutive weeks. After the slow start, he finished the game completing 25 of 37 passes for 340 yards and no interceptions.

Pretty sure my dog wouldn't be able to do that. At least not with peanut butter stuck in his mouth.

But Popeye sure could.
