Steve Nash gets rousing sendoff from Phoenix Suns fans

Steve Nash may have played his final game as a Phoenix Sun on Wednesday night, and if he did, the fans in Phoenix let him know how much they love him for his contribution throughout the years.

With time running out and Nash on the bench in Phoenix’s 110-106 loss to San Antonio, the crowd began a “We want Steve” chant. Coach Alvin Gentry obliged, putting Nash in the game to a standing ovation, then removing him at the next dead ball so Nash could get another ovation.

Why is Nash so popular? Well, not only is he a great player, but watch him playfully put his towel over the head of the guy standing next to him when he checks into the game.

It is possible Nash will re-sign with the Suns, but it seems unlikely as Phoenix is in rebuilding mode and Nash wants to play on a contender. In order to stay, Nash would need a commitment from the front office to make the team better.

“I just want our team to be as competitive as possible if I were to return,” Nash told the Arizona Republic. “There are a lot of factors involved and I’ll get a chance to sit down and evaluate them all at some point.”

Nash has spent seven season with the Suns, and was named NBA MVP his first two seasons with the team. The Suns have failed to qualify for the playoffs the last two seasons.
