Terrell Owens hopes to revive career by firing Drew Rosenhaus

Terrell Owens has found the reason why he can’t land another job in the NFL -- apparently it’s his agent’s fault.

Owens has fired longtime agent Drew Rosenhaus, saying he needs to a representative who “believes in my ability to help an NFL team.”

Apparently Rosenhaus, a superagent who claimed to have approximately 170 active clients last year, is no longer good enough to represent a guy who can’t even hold down a job in the Indoor Football League anymore.

Instead, that honor now belongs to agent Jordan Woy, Owens said in a statement.

“It was important for me to hire someone who believes in my ability to help an NFL team and believes in me as a person,” Owens said Monday on his website. “I love the game of football and I know I can help a team. I have had to go through some humbling times but I am more determined than ever to show a team that I can be a huge asset to them as a player and a team leader in the locker room. I am in the best shape of my life and preparing daily. I am looking for a team who will give me that chance and I know I will pay big dividends to them as a player and teammate.”

Owens, 38, is second all-time in the NFL with 15,934 receiving yards and 153 touchdown catches. He played for five NFL teams, burning several bridges along the way, before missing all of last season because of knee surgery and a lack of interest from any teams in the league.

He joined the IFL’s Allen Wranglers in February as a player/partial owner, but the organization broke ties with him last week after he refused to play in two road games with possible playoff implications and failed to appear at a team event at a local children’s hospital.

Rosenhaus didn’t immediately return voice and text messages from Bloomberg News concerning Owens’s decision.
