Tiger Woods will return to the PGA Tour a little sooner than anticipated, announcing Friday that he will be at the Players Championship next month.

The former No. 1 player had an encouraging finish at the Masters a few weeks ago but suffered an injury when he popped a bone out of place in his wrist. At the time, he was vague about returning to competition.

“Not going to be for a while,” he said.

But on Friday he tweeted: “Looking forward to going back to THE PLAYERS this year, hoping for a repeat of 2013.”

He won the prestigious tournament that year, adding to a previous 2001 title. Injury forced him to skip the event at TPC Sawgrass last year.

Earlier this week, Jack Nicklaus said that Woods had committed to playing the Memorial in early June.
