There is no guarantee that Tiger Woods’ strained left elbow will be 100% for the upcoming British Open, but the world’s top-ranked golfer insists it will be “good enough.”

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Woods reiterated he plans to compete at Muirfield in mid-July.

In the meantime, he won’t have a chance to defend his title at the AT&T; National this week at Congressional Country Club, where he is a two-time winner.

“Obviously, I’m disappointed about not being able to play,” he said. “I’ll be watching.”

His injury occurred during the Players Championship and flared up at the U.S. Open. After finishing a disappointing four rounds at Merion in pain, Woods said he is listening to doctors’ advice and making time for treatment and rest.

There was some question about how much he will be able to practice during the three weeks leading up to the British Open.

It has been five years since Woods last won a major.
