Tim Tebow could play as running back for New York on Sunday

New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow could be used as a running back on Sunday against the New England Patriots.

“That’s a possibility,” Jets Coach Rex Ryan said Thursday at a news conference.

“The thing about Tim, with him being a football player like we’ve always talked about, by playing quarterback he knows all the positions and so, can you plug him in at running back? Can you plug him in at tight end, whatever? I think the answer is yes.”

Jets backup running backs Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight missed Thursday’s practice because of shoulder and ankle injuries, respectively.

Tebow gained muscle mass over the offseason and has 64 rushing yards this season.

Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano thinks that Tebow would hold up just fine as a running back.

“I think Tim Tebow can be good at whatever he wants to be good at,” Sparano said.
