Tim Tebow is no longer a Denver Bronco, but he understands the reasons why and is looking forward to his time with the New York Jets.

In a conference call with the media late Wednesday night, Tebow was gracious about the trade and his time in Denver.

“I understand what the Broncos are going through, what they’re dealing with,” Tebow said. “Not many times do you have the opportunity to sign somebody like Peyton Manning. What a great quarterback he is, he’s just one of the best ever to play the game. I had a great run, and last season was very special, it was an amazing year.”

Tebow became a nationwide sensation after taking over as Denver’s starting quarterback midway through the season and leading them into the second round of the playoffs. Now, he takes his show to New York. And even though the Jets have said Mark Sanchez is still their starter, you just know that if the Jets go 1-4 like the Broncos did, fans will be clamoring for Tebow to start. So, no pressure on you at all, Mark.

But Tebow was focusing more on the Broncos on Wednesday, reflecting on the memories:

“It was great, my time was great, I’ll always be grateful for the fans of Denver for the way they supported me, rallied around me, but that time is over and done. I’m looking forward to a new chapter in my life. I’m looking forward to a new challenge.”

Start spreading the news, Jets fans. Tim Tebow is coming to town.
