UCLA football: Bruins to open training camp Aug. 4
UCLA will tentatively open football training camp at Cal State San Bernardino on Aug. 4.
The team will practice there through Aug. 16, except on Sundays.
Practices, which are open to the public, will probably be at 4 p.m. except for two-a-day workouts, when the Bruins will practice in the morning and late afternoon.
This is the third year that Coach Jim Mora has taken the Bruins to San Bernardino for their summer training camp.
The Bruins went 10-3 last season after routing Virginia Tech, 42-12, in the Sun Bowl. They likely will be in the top 15 when preseason rankings are released this summer.
“We need to win Pac-12 championships and Rose Bowls,” Mora said when asked recently about the resurgent program. “We need to be in the national title picture. We need to continue to graduate our student-athletes. We’re really just getting started. We’re two years. That’s nothing.”
