USC students stop the presses on UCLA

There was an Extra! on the UCLA campus Tuesday.

UCLA officials this week took steps to protect statues on campus from USC pranks. The school’s bear statue was in a box, as was the statue of former basketball coach John Wooden.

So USC students went William Randolph Hearst on UCLA, striking at the fourth estate.

USC students, presumably the crosstown ink-stained wretches, hit the UCLA campus early Monday morning, dumping out the Daily Bruin from newspaper racks and leaving UCLA students with the Daily Trojan for their reading pleasure.

Andrew Erickson, football beat writer for the Daily Bruin, declined to comment on the incident. Daily Bruin Editor in Chief Jillian Beck came to the scene at 7:30 a.m., carrying replacement newspapers.
