USC’s Ariya Crook is selected most outstanding player of Pac-12 tournament

Ariya Crook of USC was selected as the most outstanding player of the Pac-12 Conference women’s basketball tournament after leading the Trojans to their first NCAA tournament berth since 2006.

Crook, a junior guard, scored 16 points Sunday night in the Trojans’ 71-62 victory over Oregon State in the tournament’s championship game at KeyArena in Seattle.

The NCAA tournament bracket will be announced March 17.

Senior forward Cassie Harberts of USC also was selected to the all-tournament team.

Harberts scored 13 points and had seven rebounds in the Trojans’ semifinal victory over No. 4 Stanford on Saturday and 12 points against Oregon State.

USC, under first-year Coach Cynthia-Cooper Dyke, has won six games in a row to improve to 22-12.

Washington State’s Lia Galderia, Stanford’s Chiney Ogwumike and Oregon State’s Ruth Hamblin and Sydney Wiese also were selected to the all-tournament team.
