USC football: Hayes Pullard leads Trojans defense in upset
USC linebacker Hayes Pullard made 11 tackles and helped force a key interception in USC’s 20-17 upset victory over Stanford on Saturday at the Coliseum.
Pullard, a junior who played at Crenshaw High, and nearly every USC defensive starter played every snap against the Cardinal.
“I give all the credit to the coaching staff,” Pullard said. “They put a great game plan together,
“We knew we wouldn’t officially stop them, but we knew we needed to slow them down and match their intensity out there. We had to give it our all and go four quarters.”
Sophomore Anthony Sarao made a team-best 12 tackles for the Trojans, who gave up 337 yards.
USC plays at Colorado on Saturday.
