Del Rio, former head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, began the season as the Broncos' defensive coordinator, a position he also held in 2012. AP reported that the Broncos confirmed that Haden contacted Broncos executive vice president John Elway to seek permission to speak with Del Rio. The interview reportedly took place Nov. 1.

Three days later, Del Rio was named the Broncos interim coach after Coach John Fox underwent heart surgery.

USC interim coach Ed Orgeron guided the Trojans to a 20-17 upset over Stanford on Saturday, a victory that propelled USC to No. 23 in the Associated Press media poll.

USC is 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the Pac-12 Conference. The Trojans have won four games in a row and are 5-1 under Orgeron.

USC plays at Colorado on Saturday.
