USC football: Josh Shaw might return to cornerback
Josh Shaw could be returning to cornerback for USC.
Interim Coach Ed Orgeron said Sunday that he and defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast probably would discuss moving the 6-foot-1 Shaw from safety again to help the Trojans’ pass defense.
In 2012, Shaw started the final seven games at cornerback. He has started four games at cornerback this season.
During USC’s 14-10 loss to Notre Dame on Saturday, Fighting Irish quarterback Tommy Rees completed 14 of 21 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns before he was forced to leave the game because of a neck strain.
Receiver TJ Jones and tight end Troy Niklas both caught four passes and scored touchdowns.
USC’s Anthony Brown started at cornerback opposite sophomore Kevon Seymour and struggled at times during his first game since suffering a knee injury in the season opener.
