USC football: Josh Shaw selected Pac-12 defensive player of week
USC cornerback Josh Shaw has been selected Pac-12 defensive player of the week, the conference announced Monday.
Shaw, a junior, intercepted a pass and made a team-best eight tackles in the Trojans’ 31-14 victory against Oregon State.
It was the second consecutive game at cornerback for Shaw, who began the season at safety, moved to cornerback in the next four games and then returned to safety.
USC defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast moved Shaw to cornerback against Utah on Oct. 26 and Shaw responded by intercepting a pass in the Trojans’ 19-3 victory. USC finished the game with three interceptions.
Shaw intercepted a pass in the end zone against Oregon State, the first of three interceptions in the game by the Trojans.
Shaw returned an interception for a touchdown in the season opener against Hawaii.
