USC football: Xavier Grimble, Randall Telfer intend to play
USC tight ends Xavier Grimble, Randall Telfer and Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick did not play against Utah because of injuries.
Interim Coach Ed Orgeron said Monday that Grimble and Cope-Fitzpatrick were questionable, and that Telfer was out for Friday night’s game at Oregon State.
But Grimble and Telfer went through a series of running drills and said they intend to play.
“The way I’m feeling [Monday], if I keep progressing I think I’ll be ready to go,” said Grimble, who suffered an ankle injury against Notre Dame on Oct. 19.
Telfer said his injured knee “feels a lot better than it did last week” and that he hoped doctors would clear him to play against the Beavers.
“We’re just taking it day by day,” he said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if I suit up this week.”
