UCLA’s Jim Mora not focused on ‘Southern Cal’ for now ... or USC

Share

You can’t talk UCLA football without talking USCfootball.

But Bruins’ Coach Jim Mora skipped around the subject when asked to address the rivalry.

“My concern is UCLA and making this team being best team we can be,” Mora said. “It is a big mistake as a coach -- I understand the fans’ perspective and the media perspective. It is a very unique rivalry, but it is important for a football team to keep the focus on the game you are getting ready to play.”

Still, Mora couldn’t seem resist getting a dig in.

“When we get to the game against Southern Cal, we’ll worry about Southern Cal,” Mora said.

Those at USC would contend that the Bruins don’t play “Southern Cal,” a nickname that makes the Trojans cringe.

USC has won 12 of the last 13 games in the rivalry.
