USOC decision on Los Angeles’ 2024 Olympic bid expected by mid-afternoon
It could be only a few hours until Los Angeles officials learn the fate of their campaign to bid for the 2024 Olympics.
The U.S. Olympic Committee board of directors has scheduled a meeting Thursday at Denver International Airport to continue deliberations on which American city to put forward as a host candidate for those Summer Games.
Los Angeles is a finalist along with Boston, San Francisco and Washington.
While it is possible the USOC will choose to ponder the matter a little longer, people in and around the organization expect a decision -- and an announcement -- by mid-afternoon.
Official submissions to the International Olympic Committee are due in about a year. The IOC plans to select a host in the summer of 2017.
