Von Miller could be called to testify in death penalty trial

Von Miller’s situation grows more complicated by the day.

The Denver Broncos linebacker, facing a multi-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance policy, could be called as a witness in a death penalty case.

The Denver Post reported Tuesday that Miller is among 100 potential witnesses in a case against Dexter Lewis, who is accused of stabbing five people to death in a Denver bar in October. Miller is listed as a possible acquaintance of Lewis, who faces 16 counts in the attack at Fero’s Bar and Grill, including first-degree murder, felony murder, robbery and arson.

Miller could be called to testify in the sentencing portion of the trial if Lewis is found guilty.

“We’ve been aware that Von’s name appears on a potential witness list, but he has zero direct involvement in this case,” said Patrick Smyth, Broncos executive director of media relations told the Post.
