Yankees barred Kate Upton from wearing a Tigers cap at Yankee Stadium

Remember that cute scene last week at Yankee Stadium, when New York was playing Detroit and Tiger pitcher Justin Verlander tossed a ball to his girlfriend, Kate Upton, who was sitting directly behind the Tiger dugout? Well, Upton’s smile was covering a hidden pain.

You see, Upton used to be a big Yankee fan, until she started dating Verlander, and she switched her allegiance to the Tigers. So she was brokenhearted when the Yankees told her something before the game:

“I used to be a really big Yankees fan,” Upton said on “Live! with Kelly and Michael” on Friday, “But I’m sleeping with the enemy. My boyfriend plays for the Tigers. I had to pick a side. And I felt it too, when I walked in. The Yankees told me, ‘You’re not allowed to wear a Tigers hat. You’re not allowed to wear any Tigers gear.’ It’s like a bad breakup.”

So, yes, even mega-supermodels have their share of worries and heartaches. And let’s not forget to save some anger for the Yankees. Really, asking people not to wear the opponent’s cap at a game? Ridiculous.
