Chris Paul participates in full-contact practice with Clippers

When the Clippers started training camp on Sept. 29, All-Star point guard Chris Paul had not been cleared for full contract in practice because he was still recovering from surgery Aug. 21 to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb.

But less than two weeks later, Paul got cleared for full contract in practice, doing so Tuesday with the Clippers in China as they prepared to play the NBA champion Miami Heat on Thursday in Beijing. The Clippers and Heat will play a second exhibition game on Sunday in Shanghai.

“It felt great,” Paul told Clippers.com on Tuesday after practice. “I actually felt like I was part of the team. I was a little winded out there, but it felt good to get back out there and get in the mix.”

Paul, who didn’t play in the Clippers’ first exhibition game last Sunday against the Denver Nuggets in Las Vegas, had participated in the team’s workouts and drills before the team went to China.
