Baker claims title

COSTA MESA — Brian Baker defeated Greg Ouellette, 6-1, 6-2, to win the Costa Mesa Pro Classic men’s tennis tournament, completed Sunday at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.

The No. 4-seeded Baker, a 26-year-old Nashville, Tenn. resident, claimed the $1,950 first prize and 27 ATP points by handling No. 5-seeded Ouellette, a four-time college All-American at Florida.

In Saturday’s doubles final, Newport Beach resident Carsten Ball and partner Andre Bergmann, lost in a tie-breaker to Nicholas Meister and John Peers.

The event is part of the USTA Pro Circuit tour. which returns to Costa Mesa in September.
