Sage Hill's Kim selected to program

Sage Hill School junior Charlie Kim is one of 36 high school students selected to participate in the inaugural NFL-Wharton Prep Leadership Program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School in Philadelphia in June.

The program picked from a diverse group of student-athletes from across the country based on academic transcripts, athletic experience, leadership activities, coach and teacher recommendations, and personal essays.

"With our newest NFL Prep leadership initiative, we are excited to acknowledge and celebrate those extraordinary high school student-athletes who are already demonstrating exceptional leadership qualities in the classroom and on the playing field," said Troy Vincent, NFL Vice President of Player Engagement, in a press release. "This program for male and female student-athletes features a curriculum created by top educators specifically designed to provide the skills and knowledge that are essential to becoming better leaders in academic performance, athletic experience and community service."

The program is for three days in which students will meet and cover topics ranging from basics of leadership, to basics of management.

"Over the course of his football career at Sage Hill School, Charlie routinely is the first person on the field and the last person to leave. He personifies the great saying by Vince Lombardi, 'The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender,'" said J.R. Tolver, Kim's football coach at Sage Hill, in a press release. "I'm excited that the prestigious honor of attending the Wharton Prep Leadership Program has been bestowed upon Charlie. I believe the experience and knowledge he gains from the Wharton Prep Leadership Program will sharpen Charlie's leadership skills and positively impact our football team in 2012."
