Edison 78, Marina 0: Quarterback Aleksander Torgersen threw five touchdown passes and Trenton Ashoff and Jake Favreau both scored on fumble returns as Edison, the top-ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Southwest Division, took sole possession of first-place in the Sunset League by storming past Marina at Huntington Beach High. The homecoming game victory put the Chargers at 7-0-1 overall and 3-0 in league. The Vikings fell to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in league.
The Edison defense posted its fourth shutout of the season and second in league play.
Newport Harbor 20, Huntington Beach 17: Quarterback Kai Ross threw for one touchdown and ran for another but eighth-ranked Huntington Beach (4-4, 2-1) was knocked from a share of the Sunset League lead by host Newport Harbor (4-4, 2-1).
Los Alamitos 28, Fountain Valley 21: At Westminster High, quarterback Chris d'Entremont threw touchdown passes to Jason Baker and Ryan Finley, and Wyatt Christensen rushed for a score, but Fountain Valley suffered another close loss in Sunset League play. The Barons, who have lost four-straight, are now 0-3 in league and 3-5 overall. Their league losses are by seven points each to fourth-ranked Los Alamitos (6-2, 2-1) and Newport Harbor, and by three points to Huntington Beach.
Brethren Christian 42, Sage Hill 13: Quarterback Jack McInally threw three touchdown passes, Austin Gorrell had a reception and interception for touchdowns, and Jake Roque returned an interception for a touchdown, as the Warriors (5-3, 1-0) opened Academy League play with a win over the Lightning (0-8, 0-1).
