The Cavaliers are coming off a 2-10 season. Oregon went to Charlottesville, Va., last season and won, 59-10. The visit gives East Coast Heisman voters a look at UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley.

The Tigers are rebuilding from a 1-11 season. Their goal: get in, pick up a nice paycheck, don’t get hurt and get out.

Sept. 13, vs. Texas, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, 5 p.m.

Texas approached UCLA Coach Jim Mora in December about the Longhorns’ coaching vacancy. He said no, so Texas went with Charlie Strong. UCLA has an 8-4 record playing in the state of Texas.

Sept. 25, at Arizona State, 7 p.m.

The Bruins’ only South Division loss in 2013 was to Arizona State and it cost them a spot in the Pac-12 championship game. UCLA needs a better plan for quarterback Taylor Kelly, who passed for 225 yards and ran for 99 in the Sun Devils’ 38-33 win.

Oct. 4, Utah, TBA.

The Utes are always physical and a handful for Bruins. Utah needs a healthy quarterback Travis Wilson. He nearly beat the Bruins in Salt Lake City last year. A Myles Jack interception inside the five-yard line prevented overtime.

Oct. 11, Oregon, TBA.

The last time UCLA had this big a game at the Rose Bowl, Troy Aikman was calling the signals. The Ducks have won the last seven games in the series. The last UCLA victory was coach Karl Dorrell’s last game at the Rose Bowl, in 2007.

Oct. 18, at California, TBA.

The Bruins have lost seven consecutive games in Berkeley — their last victory in Strawberry Canyon was engineered by Cade McNown in 1998. UCLA lost, 43-17, in 2012.

Oct. 25, at Colorado, TBA.

The Buffaloes should be better, but not that much better. Colorado has been outscored, 132-43, in three losses to UCLA since joining the Pac-12. Hundley has four touchdowns passing and four more running in the last two games.

Nov. 1, Arizona, TBA.

UCLA linebacker Jack entered last year’s game as a talented freshman and left a top national story. In double duty as a running back for the first time, he gained 120 yards in six carries, including a 66-yard touchdown romp.

Nov. 8, at Washington, TBA.

Jack, who attended high school near Washington, scored four touchdowns against the Huskies last season.

Nov. 22, USC, TBA.

Mora says he doesn’t worry much about the Trojans. And he doesn’t mind needling them with numerous “Southern Cal” references. The Bruins are 2-0 against USC since Mora came to town. Plans for statue in Westwood being mulled.

Nov. 28, Stanford, 12:30 p.m.

The Cardinal has won the last six games against UCLA, the longest Stanford winning streak in the series between these schools. Three of Mora’s seven losses as UCLA’s coach have been to Stanford, including the 2012 Pac-12 title game.
