From the way he talked on Monday, you’d think that linebacker Eric Kendricks played a horrible game against Virginia. He said that he left a lot on the field and made a lot of rookie mistakes including key mistakes in the passing game.

The redshirt senior also said that after watching film, he “wants to get back to doing the right thing.”

Apparently, registering 16 tackles, forcing a fumble and returning an interception for a touchdown don’t amount to doing the right thing.

Kendricks had a dominant game against Virginia, good enough to be named the Pac-12 defensive player of the week, but he sounded unimpressed by his opening performance.

“It’s really cool, but I’m going to get back to work and not worry about it,” he said of the award. “I could have gotten some more stats if I did the right thing.”
