We emerge from the off week knowing pretty much the same things we knew during the off week. Brett Hundley is practicing, Randall Goforth is out for the season with shoulder injuries and Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly is going to be inactive when the Bruins head to Sun Devil Stadium on Thursday in an enormous Pac-12 Conference South matchup.

Some stories posted Monday: Myles Jack still thinks about last year’s loss to Arizona State, kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn has an up-and-down history against ASU and Bruins freshman safety Jaleel Wadood gets some chances to contribute.

And, of course, some quotes from Monday’s practice:

Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich

On freshman linebacker Zach Whitley: “It’s less of an on-the-field thing, it’s more about off-the-field stuff. Just getting him accustomed to our scheme and system, and he’s doing a great job of working his butt off. He’s starting to get more involved with special teams, he’s crossing that white line on Saturdays, which is paramount I think for development. I think he’s going to be a fun guy to watch grow.”

Sophomore linebacker Myles Jack

On his matchup with ASU running back D.J. Foster: “I’m definitely excited for that matchup, just to see where I stand with a guy like that. He’s one of the best running backs in the nation right now.”

Redshirt senior linebacker Eric Kendricks

On Foster: “Stats don’t lie. I feel like he’s one of the best we’ve seen. He’s running the ball hard. He has a lot of aspects to his game that are elite, and we’re going to treat him as such. We’re not going to take him lightly.”
