Jim Mora, amateur meteorologist, has good grasp on Seattle weather

UCLA Coach Jim Mora has some strong ties to the state of Washington. He grew up in the Seattle area and was a walk-on linebacker at Washington in the early 1980s. His coaching career started as a graduate assistant with the Huskies in 1984, and more than 20 years later, he became the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks.

So though some might have issues predicting the notoriously fickle Seattle weather, Mora seems to have the forecast all figured out for Saturday, when the Bruins are to take on Washington at Husky Stadium.

“Saturday’s forecast is a low of 48, a high of 57, winds at four miles per hour, with a zero percent chance of rain right now,” he said Tuesday. “It’s going to rain on Friday and Sunday.”

Moving on from the weather report, Mora said he didn’t entertain any thoughts of loyalty to his former school.

“Really doesn’t matter to me,” he said. “I’m excited just that we get another opportunity to play a game together.”

Later, when asked if coaching against his alma mater will be emotional, all Mora said was, “Nope.”
