UCLA Coach Jim Mora took the stage at Pac-12 media day, made a short statement and addressed the question everyone wants answered: Who will be the Bruins’ starting quarterback this season?

“I can just tell you right now before anyone asks me again, I don’t know,” said Mora, adding that he already had been asked the question “100 times.”

He probably should get used to it.

After Brett Hundley’s departure to the NFL, UCLA is left with three candidates for the position -- fourth-year juniors Jerry Neuheisel and Mike Fafaul and freshman Josh Rosen, a highly regarded recruit from Bellflower St. John Bosco High.

“I’m confident that we have three players that any one of them can step in and be productive if they depend on the people around them,” said Mora, who was asked about the position at least half a dozen times during a 40-minute interview session.

Mora said he had no timeline to name a starter. UCLA opens the season against Virginia on Sept. 5 at the Rose Bowl.
