USC quarterback Cody Kessler has been named to the watchlist for the Manning Award.

Kessler was among 11 finalists for the honor last season.

Former Trojans quarterback Matt Leinart won the Manning Award in 2004.

Kessler, a fifth-year senior, is preparing for his third season as the Trojans’ starter. He passed for 39 touchdowns, with five interceptions, during the 2014 season.

Other Pac-12 quarterbacks named to the watchlist include Arizona’s Anu Solomon, California’s Jared Goff and Stanford’s Kevin Hogan.

USC opens the season Sept. 5 against Arkansas State.
