End-of-spring defensive line depth chart for the USC football team:

Starters: Fifth-year seniors Delvon Simmons, Antwaun Woods and Claude Pelon

Backups: Fifth-year seniors Cody Temple and Greg Townsend, Jr. and third-year sophomore Kenny Bigelow

Reserve: Redshirt freshman Malik Dorton

Incoming: Freshmen Rasheem Green, Noah Jefferson, Jacob Daniel, Christian Rector and Kevin Scott

Review: Depth was an issue for the defensive line during spring practice. Experience could be a concern in the fall.

Simmons was the most consistent contributor.

Bigelow, sidelined last season after knee surgery, worked almost exclusively in individual drills. He is listed as Simmons’ backup.

Pelon was more productive this spring than he was during the 2014 season. However, he was absent from a practice and was sidelined during the spring scrimmage because of academics, Coach Steve Sarkisian said.

Townsend, listed as Pelon’s backup, was sidelined because of injury.

Dorton took reps with the backups and improved. He is listed behind Pelon and Townsend.

Temple worked with the starters in place of Woods, who was sidelined during spring workouts while recovering from postseason surgery.

Temple has been plagued by injuries, but stayed healthy and was a reliable contributor.

Green, Jefferson, Daniel, Rector and Scott will join the team in training camp.
