Javorius Allen apparently got the message.

After the Trojans’ victory over Oregon State, USC Coach Steve Sarkisian said that he wanted Allen and fellow tailback Justin Davis to break more tackles once they got past the line of scrimmage and into the “second level” of a defense.

“I agree with him,” Allen said last week, adding that he thanked Sarkisian for pushing him.

Allen responded by breaking free on a 53-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s 38-34 loss to Arizona State. He finished with 143 yards and two touchdowns in a career-high 29 carries.

Allen’s long touchdown gave USC a 34-25 lead with about three minutes left.

The Sun Devils answered with two touchdowns, including the game-winner on a Hail Mary as time expired.

Allen has rushed for more than 100 yards in all but one game this season.
