Baseball: Albee Weiss gets six RBIs in Agoura’s 9-5 win over Royal

Albee Weiss of Agoura was feeling it on Wednesday. He was feeling the need to show some power, and he delivered two home runs and six RBIs in Agoura’s 9-5 Marmonte League win over Royal.

Agoura is 11-3 overall and 7-0 in league. Two of Agoura’s three losses were to top teams Loyola and Chatsworth.

In a nonleague game, Oaks Christian defeated Newbury Park, 5-3. Christian Stoutland, who committed to Pepperdine, took a no-hitter into the fifth inning for Oaks Christian, striking out eight. Dane Morrow struck out four in 2 1/3 innings. Adam Kerner had three hits.

Narbonne won the Rancho Cordova tournament with a 5-0 win over the host school. Arnold Solis had two hits. Javier Garcia was named tournament MVP. Angel Villela was the top offensive player in the tournament. It was the 200th career win for Coach Bill Dillon.

Gardena Serra defeated Bishop Amat, 6-4. Denz’l Chapman had three hits. Marcus Wilson had two hits.

In a Bay League opener, Peninsula improved to 14-2 with a 6-4 win over Palos Verdes. Max Green and David Odle each had two-run doubles.

In the Moore League, Long Beach Wilson stayed in first place with a 4-2 win over Long Beach Millikan. Andrew Brown and Chris Betts had two hits apiece. Will Johnson threw 2 2/3 innings of shutout relief.

In the South Coast League, Capistrano Valley improved to 5-1 with a 3-1 win over El Toro.

In the National Classic, Alemany advanced to Thursday’s 4 p.m. consolation championship at Cal State Fullerton with an 8-2 win over Utah Spanish Fork. Carter Yankie allowed one run in five innings. Adam Bedrossian had three hits and Cristian Montes added two hits. Huntington Beach is in the final against San Jose Valley Christian after a 5-2 win over IMG Academy.

Riverside North defeated Esperanza, 4-3. Tristan Hildebrandt hit a home run for Esperanza. Junior Brandon Mulrooney threw a four-hitter to lead El Dorado past Santa Margarita, 2-1. Griffin Canning struck out 11 in defeat.

In the Foothill League, Hart defeated Canyon, 3-1. Paul Richan struck out nine in a complete game. Saugus defeated Golden Valley, 8-1. Anthony Donatella allowed one run in six innings. Adam Sinatra had a three-run double.

Valencia scored six runs in the top of the seventh to defeat West Ranch, 7-6. Devin Davis had three hits, including a game-winning double. Jake Bird struck out 10 in 5 2/3 innings for West Ranch. Parker Bacon added three hits and three RBIs.

In the Sierra League, Chino Hills defeated South Hills, 6-1. Bailey Falter struck out eight and threw a three-hitter. Joey Dufresne go the victory and Matthew Acosta, Bryan Duma and Tyler Roe each had three hits in Ayala’s 9-4 win over Claremont.

JSerra scored four runs in the fifth inning to wipe out a 3-1 deficit en route to a 5-3 first-game win over Cypress. Sam Cohen had two RBIs. Cypress won the second game, 3-2.

Beckman defeated Village Christian, 3-1. Michael Fuchs had two RBIs.

In Las Vegas, Chatsworth won the Durango tourney championship with a 5-3 win over Basic. Niko Switalla threw the complete game. Cleveland defeated McClatchy, 13-4. Ben Kaser had three hits and two RBIs.

In San Diego, Granada Hills Kennedy defeated Las Vegas Silverado, 11-4. Gilbert Hernandez (5-0) struck out five in five innings. J.J. Gonzalez had three hits and two RBIs. El Camino Real lost to Rancho, 10-0. Heritage Christian defeated Mt. Empire, 12-5. Tiger Chase struck out 17. Kenny Williams had four hits.

Warren defeated Utah Brighton, 6-2. Steven Nuno threw a three-hitter and struck out six. Junior Ruiz went three for four with two RBIs.

Granada Hills lost to Central Union, 1-0.

Hamilton advanced to the semifinals of the Dennis Gilbert tournament with a 10-0 win over Huntington Park. Ethan Lazar had two doubles and four RBIs. Dylan Israel had two hits.

In the first game of a doubleheader, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated Capistrano Valley Christian, 5-1. Michael Wilson got the win. Jake Gould and Justin Goossen-Brown each had two hits. Jason Starcher had a three-run pinch-hit home run. In the second game, Tommy Wilson threw a shutout in a 2-0 Notre Dame victory.
