Former Loyola pitcher Nathan Hadley, who had become a solid reliever for UCLA, injured his throwing arm this summer and had to undergo Tommy John surgery on Monday.

“He was throwing the ball 93 mph and had turned the corner,” UCLA Coach John Savage said.

Hadley will have to miss the 2017 season and will have two years of eligibility left with the Bruins.
