Baseball: Saugus hands Hart its first defeat

Saugus received 11 strikeouts from Eric Little in coming away with a 6-1 victory over Hart on Wednesday in a Foothill League game. Hart came in with a 10-0-1 record. Cody Miller hit a home run for the Indians.

West Ranch defeated Canyon, 8-0. Christy Frierson and A.J. West combined on a two-hitter. Parker Bacon and Jake Spurlin each had three hits.

In the Marmonte League, Newbury Park defeated Westlake, 4-3. Thomas Ponticelli threw the complete game. Royal defeated Calabasas, 5-1. Kurt Johnson struck out nine in six innings. Garrett Brossard struck out three in the seventh. Jake Edwards and Bryce Moore each had two hits. Albee Weiss had three hits and two RBIs in Agoura’s 6-5 win over Simi Valley.

Thousand Oaks defeated Moorpark, 3-1. Wyatt Birg threw a complete game.

In the Tri-Valley League, Oaks Christian defeated St. Bonaventure, 4-1. Riley Helland had two hits. Chris Davis had an RBI double. Tyson Quolas had a double and single. Christian Stoutland struck out five in five innings.

In the Boras Classic, Bishop Amat defeated Granite Hills, 3-0. Isaac Archer allowed four hits in 6 1/3 innings. Michael Palos hit a two-run home run. Christian Moya and Scott Hurst each had two hits. Great Oak defeated Cypress, 4-2, with four runs in the seventh. Zack Noll threw a two-hitter. Mitch Hayes had three hits.

In a Marine League opener, Daniel Rocha struck out 13 in five innings in Narbonne’s 15-1 win over San Pedro. Javier Garcia had three hits. Banning defeated Gardena, 11-1. Gino Brockway struck out seven and walked none in five innings. Juan Gallardo went three for three with a two-run home run. Julian Villegas had three RBIs.

In the Valley Mission League, Kennedy defeated Van Nuys, 11-1. Felix Rubi (4-1) struck out five in five innings. Alejandro Vasquez went four for four with two home runs and six RBIs. Sylmar defeated Panorama, 14-0. Jose Holguin, Alex Gutierrez and Gerardo Yanez each had two hits.

In the East Valley League, Poly defeated Grant, 6-1. Sophomore Jesus Carranza struck out nine in a complete game. Matt Machuca had two hits and three stolen bases. North Hollywood defeated Monroe, 6-3. Andrew Marmor threw a complete game. Tyson Turner had three hits. Ryan Ruiz hit a home run.

In the Sunset League, Huntington Beach defeated Edison, 3-2. Newport Harbor defeated Los Alamitos, 6-3. Willie Aguilar had a double and two home runs and five RBIs in Fountain Valley’s 14-1 win over Marina.

Long Beach Wilson improved to 13-3 with a 4-2 win over Gahr. Tyler Radcliffe threw a three-hitter.

Erik Cha struck out eight and allowed one hit in Ayala’s 5-0 win over Sunny Hills.

California defeated El Rancho, 10-0. Daniel Alvarez struck out 10 in six innings. Fermin Beza had a home run and double. Baldwin Park defeated Sierra Vista, 9-4.
