Football: Beware of JSerra

In the scenarios of which teams might be best in the Trinity League, St. John Bosco and Mater Dei are usually mentioned first. Don’t forget about JSerra, which could have a breakthrough season.

JSerra opened its nonleague season with a 44-0 victory over Las Vegas Centennial, one of the top teams in Nevada.

Casey Eugenio rushed for 138 yards and scored two touchdowns. Nick Robinson passed for 108 yards and two touchdowns.

Jim Hartigan has been patiently trying to get the Lions to be successful in football. It has been one of the toughest challenges in Orange County, considering how good the Trinity League has been.

But JSerra can’t be taken lightly this season. The Lions also have moved up to No. 25 in The Times’ top 25 rankings.
