Top City Section teams have been known for their speed and skill position players through the years. Los Angeles Coach Eric Scott has been trying to turn weakness into strength as far as play in the trenches, and it might happen for the Romans this season in their line play.

“Skill for skill, we can match or overmatch Southern Section teams,” Scott said. “But the line is the area we usually suffer.”

Scott has made it a priority to improve the Romans’ line play, and he has six linemen ready to provide size, strength and power, led by top prospect Martin Andrus (6-foot-2, 280 pounds).

There’s also Ashamad Pinchem (6-4, 260), Jeffrey Martinez (6-4, 260), Russell Kim (6-3, 280), Pierre Hayes (6-2, 250) and Brandon Tolbert (6-2, 245).

Los Angeles is in the Coliseum League, which will challenge the Marine League for best league in the City Section. The Romans are expected to battle league rival Hawkins for the City Division II championshp.
