MEMPHIS, Tenn.—The Memphis Grizzlies have assigned DeMarre Carroll to the Dakota Wizards, their NBA Development League affiliate.
The 27th pick overall in 2009, Carroll now is the second of the Grizzlies' two first-round picks to be sent to the D-League. Hasheem Thabeet, the No. 2 pick overall, was sent to Dakota in February and recalled after less than two weeks in the minors.
Carroll is averaging 2.9 points and 2.1 rebounds through 75 games in his two seasons. The 6-foot-8 forward has played in four games this season with just 1.5 points and 1.5 rebounds.
He was MVP of the Big 12 tournament as a senior at Missouri in 2009. He is expected to play his first game with the Wizards on Friday against Texas Legends.
