looks to get
up to speed

If Robert Blanton leaves St. Petersburg, Fla., Sunday with NFL scouts
still working the same list of question marks as when the former Notre
Dame cornerback arrived, there will be some solace.
Blanton got a chance this week to reconnect with his passion for mentoring kids.
During the days leading up to Saturday's East-West Shrine Game (4 p.m.
EST; NFL Network), Blanton, ND teammate Gary Gray and other Shrine
Game players visited with kids in the Shiners Hospital for Children in
"It was an amazing experience," said Blanton, who coached youth
football while attending Butler High School in Matthews, N.C. and was
a part of the school's mentoring program (DREAM Team -- Daring to
Role-model Excellence as Athletic Mentors).
"The kids were great. It was truly an honor to spend time with them."
