The hoop odyssey of Ruth Riley has landed in yet another, but a more
Riley signed with the Chicago Sky of the WNBA on Monday for the 2012 season.
"I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to play for the Sky
and move back to the Midwest where I will be closer to my family,"
Riley said in a release. "Chicago is a wonderful city, with deep
history and undeniable passion for the game of basketball."
Riley's professional travels have taken her within the WNBA from Miami
as a rookie in 2001 to Detroit to San Antonio and now to Chicago. The
former Notre Dame All-American has also played professionally in Spain
"We are extremely excited to add a person and player of Ruth's caliber
to our roster," Chicago coach and general manager Pokey Chatman said.
"She will bring so much to our team and the city of Chicago. Her
ability to play the 5 and stretch the defense at the 4 compliments our
post game very well."
Riley is a three-time WNBA Champion, most recently in 2008 with the
San Antonio Silver Stars, also earning two titles in 2006 and 2003
with the Detroit Shock.
