Orlando -- The Indiana Pacers summer league team ran its record to 2-0 with a 78-74 victory over Oklahoma City Tuesday at the Amway Center.
Veteran Lance Stephenson led the Pacers with 28 points in a solid all-around performance. He hit 10 of 14 from the floor and had seven assists with no turnovers in 33 minutes.
"No turnovers, that's part of being patient and protecting the ball," said Stephenson. "I was very patient today and let the game come to me. I was trying not to force things."
"I think Lance grew a little bit today," said Pacers assistant coach Dan Burke, who is coaching the team here. "He tried to run his team, he shared the ball and did a good job defensively with a tough assignment in Reggie Jackson (who was 5 for 15)."
The Pacers led most of the game, building a lead as big as 11 points in the third quarter.
Oklahoma City took a 61-59 lead with 7:13 left to play in the game, but the Pacers responded with a 10-0 run and never trailed after that.
"They made a run each half and we responded," said Burke. "Our team defense the first two games has been great with some fantastic individual efforts."
Rookie Miles Plumlee was the only other Pacers players in double figures with 14. The Pacers got a nice lift from Brownsburg's Julian Mavunga, who scored six points with three rebounds in just 13 minutes.
Veteran Jeff Pendergraph had six points and seven rebounds in just 7:57 as he left the game with a sore back. Jarrid Famous (sore back) and Reggie Hamilton (sprained left ankle) did not play.
Wednesday, the Pacers meet Boston in the first game of the day, starting at 11:00 a.m.
