Colts middle linebacker and team captain Gary Brackett says his bruised left shoulder is still sore, while he was hoping for the best head coach Jim Caldwell made it clear that Brackett will not play this Sunday. Brackett injured his shoulder after getting tackled during an interception return on Sunday.
The Colts will be down 2 linebackers for the season opener against the Browns on Sunday, Caldwell saying Wednesday that Ernie Sims is also out. The veteran sprained his knee in the Colts 27-point loss to Houston.
To make up for the news the Horseshoes adding on to depth chart, signing linebacker Nate Triplett to the active roster and linebacker Caleb Campbell to the practice squad.
Triplett played in five games for the Colts last season on special teams and recorded five tackles. He was orginially a fifth round selection by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Campbell saw action in three career NFL games, all with the Detroit Lions in 2010. He was orginially a seventh round selection by the Lions in the 2008 NFL Draft.
