What's the drama:
Despite the fact that Karen is so depressed she can't even get out of her room, Lucas decides to leave for a weekend of "recovery" with the gang at Rachel's family cabin. Peyton tells everyone that Pete from Fall Out Boy is going to meet her up there, but no one believes the poor girl. Brooke and Mouth come along begrudgingly. Brooke hopes to rekindle the romance between she and Lucas, and Mouth joins in to show support for his friends, especially Lucas. In fact, he's there for everyone but Rachel. He believes that she's just offering up the family mansion/cabin in order to relieve herself of the guilt she must feel for opening the time capsule.
What's up with Lucas:
While out 4-wheeling, Nathan tells Lucas how he swiped Haley's wedding ring. He wants to propose to her again so they can get married for real, in front of all their family and friends. He asks for Lucas' help and Lucas agrees, but tells his brother that Haley is going to freak out when she realizes her ring is gone.
What's up with Haley:
Haley freaks out when she realizes that her ring is gone. She convinces herself that she washed it down the drain. After they take apart the sink, they discover that it's not there. Haley resigns herself to wearing mittens for the rest of the weekend.
What's up with Peyton:
Peyton hears about a tour coming through town and suggests that they all go out to the club nearby that night. The whole gang goes and even manages to have some fun. That night, as Peyton and Mouth bunk together in the same room -- and in bunk beds, she admits that she wants to check her voicemail one more time to see if her Fall Out Boy has called. She's bummed that the guy hasn't shown up yet and no one believes that she even knows him.
What's up with Brooke:
The next morning, Brooke is up first and heads to the kitchen where Pete from Fall Out Boy is making pancakes. Peyton is thrilled that he didn't blow her off. He gets one look at Rachel and wonders if "we like her." No one really has an answer for him. After breakfast, Pete and Peyton go on a walk and get to know one another better. It's clear they both have deep feelings for each other.
Brooke and Lucas head outside for coffee and he gets her all caught up on the Nathan proposal thing -- even shows her the ring, just as Haley walks out. Of course Haley is super relieved that Lucas "found her ring," and Lucas figures he's dead.
What's up with Bevin:
Meanwhile, Bevin takes Skills on a nature walk, telling him that she has an excellent sense of direction--he disagrees and panics when he finds out that they are lost! After hours of walking, Skills decides to sit down and wait for dark, when they know someone will come find them. Dark? As the rest of the gang prepares for dinner, Lucas realizes that Bevin and Skills are missing -- he heads out with a flashlight and finds them immediately. Perhaps Bevin's directional skills aren't that bad after all?
What's up with Nathan:
Nathan is hugely disappointed that Lucas flubbed up his plans. Ever since he and Haley got married, something gets in the way. He and Haley are always adjusting their plans. This time Nathan wants something to go just right, he wants to propose good and proper. Lucas agrees -- they decide to go get that ring back. The big plan is back on! Brooke even tries to help get that ring back, but Haley is not letting that ring out of her sight. But typical Brooke, she's a woman on a mission, and she ends up spilling a drink on Haley and while the unsuspecting gal is taking a shower, Brooke nabs the ring.
What's up with Rachel:
Everyone seems to be having a really good time and then someone suggests that they play "I Never." It starts out innocent enough, except for the fact that Rachel reveals something very secret about Brooke. She's a good sport about it though. Later, Brooke tells Rachel that payback's a beeotch.
What's up with Mouth:
After the rousing game of "I Never," most folks head off to bed. Ever the gentleman, Pete offers to sleep on the couch, but Peyton wants to bunk with him. While bunking, they count Pete's tattoos and she asks him how this is supposed to work -- they're in two different places. He decides that the solution is to not think about it. And suddenly they realize that Mouth is bunking above them still!
After Mouth gets sick of listening to Peyton and Pete, he heads out to the hot tub where he tells Rachel that he thinks that she did a really great thing by inviting everyone up for the weekend. She tells him that she opened the time capsule just to mess with people and she wants to tell everyone the truth about how she opened it. He convinces her to keep quiet about it; after all, the shooting wasn't her fault. They forgive each other, Rachel pulls Mouth into the tub with her, and they hug.
What's up with Karen:
As Lucas and Brooke sit by the fire later that night, he admits that he is afraid that his mother will never recover from Keith's death. Brooke tells him that he has to have faith that she will get better. Meanwhile back in town, Karen shows up at Dan's office with a box of Keith's belongings that she thinks he might want: The adoption papers that Keith filed to adopt the child he abandoned; the wedding invitation for the wedding where Keith was supposed to marry the hooker he hired to seduce him; and keys to Keith Scott Motors, the business he loved before Dan swindled it away from him. She yells at Dan, telling him that he killed his brother -- he may not have pulled the trigger but he was irresponsible in letting Keith go in that school that day. Dan is suddenly relieved that the woman didn't get the story entirely right.
How does it all wrap up:
As the rest of the gang enjoys breakfast and prepares to leave the cabin, Nathan takes Haley out to the dock behind the cabin. He admits that he stole her ring twice. He gets down on one knee and asks Haley to marry him one more time, this time in front of all of their family and friends. Her answer -- Always and forever!
