TV shows get unstuck in time

Apparently someone picked Slaughterhouse Five for the Hollywood Writers' Book Group in 2008, because suddenly, all sorts of TV shows were unstuck in time. Desmond on Lost is slip-sliding his way back and forth through time, while on ABC's Life on Mars, detective Sam Tyler gets hit by a car and ends up in 1973. Then there's Desperate Housewives and One Tree Hill, which decided to skip ahead four or five years between seasons. Time is fluid, and TV is happy to take advantage of that.
