Timothy Busfield lists Malibu home at $1,995,000

Timothy Busfield is one of those ensemble-cast actors whose characters stick in the public’s consciousness long after the series ends.

Remember “The West Wing’s” ace reporter Danny Concannon, who winds up marrying the former White House chief of staff? Or “thirtysomething’s” Elliot Weston, married with two kids and still wrestling with his adolescent demons? Yup, both Busfield.

The actor has listed his three-bedroom, three-bathroom house in Malibu at $1,995,000. The modern, multilevel wood-and-glass home with ocean and mountain views has 2,396 square feet.

The residence is behind gates on more than an acre of landscaped grounds. There are vaulted ceilings, a sunken living room and blond-maple hardwood floors in the home, built in 1980.

In addition to his roles on “The West Wing” (1999-2006) and “thirtysomething” (1987-1991) -- for which he won an Emmy -- he also played Cal Shanley on “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.” He was an executive producer of “Lipstick Jungle” and “ Without a Trace.”

Split put Los Feliz house in middle

Actor Christopher Masterson can exhale now. The ink just dried on the sale of his Los Feliz home. Masterson and co-owner actress Laura Prepon fetched $2,280,000 for their 1939 traditional-style house. It was originally listed in the spring at $2.99 million and subsequently reduced.

Masterson is best known for playing Francis -- the ne’er-do-well eldest brother who was shipped off to military school on “Malcolm in the Middle” from 2000 to 2006. He separated from his live-in girlfriend, Prepon, who starred on “That ‘70s Show.”

The 4,801-square-foot house has four bedrooms and five bathrooms. It has a mahogany-paneled library, formal gardens and a horseshoe driveway. There are separate maid’s quarters with full bathroom.

Masterson also starred in two independent movie projects, “Waterborne” and “Intellectual Property.”

Lauren Reichenberg of Expansion Real Estate Services was the listing agent, and Jeff Yarbrough of Keller Williams Realty, Beverly Hills, represented the buyer at the time of the sale, according to the Multiple Listing Service.

Hoping to avoid eternity on MLS

Methos, the oldest living Immortal (in “Highlander: The Series” for those whose viewing tastes are insufficiently celestial), hopes that a lower price will help sell his earthly residence.

Actor Peter Wingfield recently reduced the price of his Studio City home to $2,699,000 from $2,995,000. The traditional-style home has six bedrooms and 4 1/2 bathrooms in 5,473 square feet.

The house has an office with a separate entrance, and a maid’s room with full bath. The media, living and dining rooms are defined by German NanaWall doors -- glass folding doors -- and the kitchen has a gourmet cooking island and stainless-steel appliances.

There is a fireplace in the master bedroom suite, which also includes a spa bath and a steam shower. The landscaped grounds include a saltwater pool and spa.

Wingfield has played the 5,000-year-old Methos in the “Highlander” TV series (1995-98) and in the movies “Highlander: The Source” (2007) and “Highlander: Endgame” (2000). He also appeared in the feature films “X2: X-Men United” (2003) and “Edge of Madness” (2002).

More recently, from 2006 through this year, he played surgical consultant Dan Clifford in the BBC medical drama “Holby City.” He had a recurring role on the Fox TV series “ 24.”

Director’s scene: up above Sunset

The producer-director known as McG is the new owner of a Hollywood Hills home, purchased for $5.75 million, according to the MLS.

The property that the “We Are Marshall” director bought has three bedrooms and three bathrooms in 3,235 square feet. It sits on a crest above the Sunset Strip and has views of the beach to downtown.

The walled hacienda has an entry courtyard with a pool and spa, and outdoor kitchen. There is a formal dining room, an eat-in kitchen and a master bedroom suite with a sitting area and a private deck.

The main house has a second bedroom with an en suite bathroom. There is a one-bedroom, one-bathroom guesthouse with a separate entry.

McG’s credits include executive producing “The O.C.” (2003-07) for Fox, “Chuck” (2007-08) for NBC and producing the feature film thriller “Stay Alive” (2006) for Hollywood Pictures, a division of the Walt Disney Co.

The 40-year-old McG directed “We Are Marshall” (2006), the inspirational story of the Marshall University football team finding a way to regroup after a plane crash killed almost the entire squad. He also directed “Charlie’s Angels” (2000) and its sequel, “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” (2003). He directed “ Terminator Salvation,” expected to be released in 2009.
