Cafe Was in Hollywood; Watermark and W20 in Ventura; Apple Restaurant & Lounge in L.A.

After multiyear runs with clubs like Deep and Forty Deuce, night-life impresario Ivan Kane’s latest venture, the anticipated Cafe Was, pictured, is ready to usher in a new era in Hollywood. The new restaurant and bar, located at 1707 Vine St., will have a main room that is “warm and inviting,” says Kane, who hopes to lure theater crowds and a sophisticated set of thirtysomethings late at night. Cafe Was will open to the public the second week of August… .Ventura is not exactly known for its sizzling night life, but that may change this summer with the debut of Watermark restaurant and its third-floor lounge, W20. W20, in particular, is set to shake up the 805 area code, with about 2,500 square feet of impossibly ornate beauty. The classy rooftop bar in the historic building boasts retractable ceilings, multiple fountains, gas fireplaces and cabanas. Centrally located at 598 E. Main St., expect Watermark to be a hit the moment it bows (soft opening is set for Saturday, with a grand opening in August)… .Meanwhile, back in Los Angeles, Allison Melnick and Bryan Ogden’s Apple Restaurant & Lounge is set to debut early next month. The new dining and drinking destination, housed in the former Pearl space in West Hollywood, will actually be divided into three distinct spaces (with separate entrances), and includes the Pussycat Dolls Lounge, which is tentatively slated to bow Aug. 28. The Dolls will perform two shows three nights per week at the new venue… .Finally, this is the last Night Lines in the Guide.
