Guns N’ Roses adds new shows to its reunion tour

Guns N’ Roses is marking today’s 30th anniversary of the release of its landmark 1987 debut album, “Appetite For Destruction,” by adding 11 more concerts to its ongoing “Not In This Lifetime” reunion tour.

The new dates will come on top of the hard-rocking band’s previously announced summer and fall North American tour concerts, which kick off July 27 in St. Louis.

The first new date is Oct. 12th in Newark; the last is Nov. 29 in Los Angeles, where the tour concludes. In between comes a Nov. 28 show at San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center.

The expansion of the tour should add to the profits GNR has been raking in since launching its reunion trek in April of 2016. Make that a partial reunion tour, since the band’s original rhythm guitarist, Izzy Stradlin, is not on board. Stephen Adler, the group’s original drummer, has made a few cameo appearances, but the drum chair for the tour is ably filled by Frank Ferrer.

That makes “Not In This Lifetime” a reunion for the band’s three other co-founders - singer W. Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan - whose 2016 tour grossed more than $100 million and netted an estimated $42.3 million. The dates the band has played so far this year has added another $51 million to its gross tour earnings for “Not In This Lifetime.”

It included a concert last August at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium, which was the Los Angeles band’s first area appearance in 23 years. By coincidence, that 1993 concert was at Valley View Casino Center, which was then known as the San Diego Sports Arena.

Tickets for nine of the 11 new concerts by Guns N’ Roses will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. local time on July 28 at livenation.com and by phone at (800) 745-3000. Tickets for the general public for the Nov. 29 Los Angeles show go on sale Aug. 4.

Tickets for the San Diego concert go on sale July 28 at 10 p.m., but not through livenation.com. Instead, the San Diego tickets will be available through axs.com and by phone at (888) 929-7849.

Ticket prices for the San Diego concert range from $75 to $225 each, plus service charges.

A pre-sale for Citi card members begins at 10 a.m. Monday, except for the Los Angeles date, for which the pre-sale begins at 10 a.m. on July 31.

Another pre-sale, this one for AT&T customers, will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, except in Los Angeles, where the AT&T pre-sale begins Aug. 2.

VIP packages will be available through vip.nation.com.
