KAABOO Del Mar performance times announced

Share

The performance times for inaugural edition of KAABOO Del Mar, the Sept. 18-20 music and food festival at the Del Mar Racetrack and fairgrounds, has been announced.

No Doubt, the Sept. 18 headliner, will perform from 8:35 to 9:55 p.m. on the Sunset Cliffs Stage. No Doubt’s set time is concurrent with the performance by Snoop Dogg, who appears the same night on the Grandview Stage. Comedian Lewis Black, the Sept. 18 Humor Me stage headliner, will perform at 11 p.m. The final acts of the day on Sept. 18, Icona Pop and The Floozies, will not actually perform until early on the morning of Sept. 19 on the Encore Stage, with The Floozies’ set concluding at 2:30 a.m.

The Sept. 19 headliner, the Zac Brown Band, will perform from 8 to 9:55 p.m. The Sept. 20 headliner, The Killers, will perform from 8:25 to 9:55 p.m. The full day-by-day schedule appears below.

“We wanted to have a real depth and breadth with the lineup, so that it has broad, multi-generational appeal,” KAABOO creator Bryan E. Gordon told the Union-Tribune in an interview earlier this year. We’re targeting a demographic of people in their mid-twenties to their sixties, and we wanted bands that would appeal to those different generations. We were also looking to draw heavily upon a pool of bands from Southern California. It was a heavily curated approach to building the lineup.”

Gordon is the the chairman and founder of The Madison Companies, LLC, a Denver-based private investment holding company that - according to its website - owns companies and properties worth over $3 billion.

Beyond its musical offerings, KAABOO is also targeting foodies and drink aficionados, in a big way.

“At most live music events, it’s all about the music and there is modest attention paid to everything else,” Gordon said in a statement released Wednesday.

“We put a great deal of attention into everything else that surrounds the music so that there is a very strong ensemble cast. People are going to have a choice of more than 50 different restaurants, over 50 types of beer, more than 30 wineries selling 75 different wines and more than 30 craft spirits. You’re going to have a lot of choices, whatever you’re in the mood for.”

The list of restaurants whose wares will be represented at KAABOO is formidable. It includes: Agave Del Mar, Mexican and Spanish Cuisine, Del Mar, CA; Bracero Cocina De Raiz, Mexican Cuisine, San Diego, CA; Común Kitchen and Tavern, Mexican, San Diego, CA; Cucina Enoteca, Italian Cuisine, Del Mar, CA; Herringbone, American Cuisine, La Jolla, CA; Ironside Seafood, San Diego, CA; Kollar Chocolates, Artisan Chocolate, Yountville, CA; L’Auberge Del Mar, California Coastal Cuisine, Del Mar, CA; Cafe La Rue European Cuisine, Located inside La Valencia Hotel, La Jolla, CA; NAPIZZA. Italian, San Diego, CA; Pamplemousse Grille, French Continental, Solana Beach, CA; Poseidon on the Beach, California Coastal/Seafood, Del Mar, CA; Puesto, Mexican/Speciality Tacos, San Diego, CA; S&M: Sausage & Meat, Eclectic Meatery, San Diego, CA; Saiko Sushi, Sushi, San Diego, CA; Searsucker, American Cuisine, Del Mar, CA; Sovereign Kitchen, Modern Vietnamese, San Diego, CA; and Venissimo Cheese, Fromage, Del Mar, CA.

Prices to attend KAABOO range from $125 per day for a general admission ticket to $2499 per person for a Hang Ten VIP pass. In a sign that sales for the ambitious festival may need a boost, in the past week KAABOO has offered discounted ticket prices through the Goldstar and LivingSocial websites.

The San Diego Union-Tribune is partnering with KAABOO to offer, through its Daily Deal site, a two-day weekend festival ticket for $229: deals.sandiegouniontribune.com; and a one-day pass for $125: deals.sandiegouniontribune.com.

DiscoverSD, which is published by the Union-Tribune, is KAABOO’s media partner.

A full list of other ticket options is available on the festival’s website.
