KAABOO sets daily schedule & daily tickets

KAABOO Del Mar , the upscale music festival that debuts Sept. 18-20 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds has confirmed its daily performance schedule. (The full lineup of music acts appears below.) The event is also now offering single-day and two-day tickets for sale, after previously only having three-day passes available. One- and two-day passes cost between $125 and $575, each. Three-day passes start at $299 each and go up to $2,499. Tickets are available on the festival website.

The Sept. 18 KAABOO lineup will be headed by No Doubt, Snoop Dogg, Foster the People, Bonnie Raitt and Sheryl Crow.

The Sept. 19 lineup will be headlined by the Zac Brown Band, San Diego’s Slightly Stoopid, Counting Crows and The Roots, who are the house band on “The Tonight Show, with Jimmy Fallon.”

The Sept. 20 lineup will be headlined by The Killers, Train, 311, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals and Grace Potter. The festival’s comedy stage will be headlined by Lewis Black (Sept. 18), Joel McHale (Sept. 19) and Tig Notaro (Sept. 20).

A fair number of music acts confirmed for KAABOO have previously performed at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, which this year was held over two consecutive three-day weekends in April, drew 198,000 people and grossed a record $84,264,264 in ticket sales.

However, when the producers of KAABOO announced the festival in January, they stressed they the event was designed to attract an older, more affluent audience than Coachella. They reiterated this during an Aug. 3 meeting at the Del Mar Communications Center with concerned area citizens.

According to festival spokeswoman Julie Coleman, KAABOO is targeting a 25 to 55-year-old demographic, with a median age of 38. By comparison, nearly half of the attendees at Coachella this year were between the ages of 18 to 34.

Performances will take place on seven stages. Non-musical amenities will include: food selections from “eight top local restaurants and chefs, and drink options from 30 California and 30 craft distilleries; virtual wave surfing; on-site hair dressers and masseuses; premium cabanas and chaise lounges; a swimming pool; and an “upscale food plaza.”
