Rihanna reschedules her first eight ‘Anti’ tour dates
Rihanna won’t be starting her 2016 “Anti” world tour in San Diego next week after all.
The tour was scheduled to begin here Feb. 26 at SDSU’s Viejas Arena. However, that date was cast in doubt after the the 27-year-old pop vocal star from Barbados pulled out of her Monday Grammy Awards performance at the last moment.
According to a statement released at the time, she was suffering from bronchitis and was under doctor’s orders to not sing for at least three days, lest she risk permanent damage to her vocal cords.
TMZ subsequently reported that she had a backstage meltdown at the Grammys. She sounded fine when she performed Saturday in Los Angeles at the annual Grammy MusiCares benefit concert, which this year featured an all-star cast honoring Lionel Richie.
On Thursday afternoon, it was announced that, due to unspecified “production delays,” Rihanna “has rescheduled the first few dates of her tour.”
In this case, “the first few dates” applies to the opening eight shows on her tour, all of which have been rescheduled for May.
Her Feb. 26 San Diego concert at Viejas Arena will now take place at the same venue on May 9. Tickets for the Feb. 26 show will be honored at the new date or can be refunded at point of purchase. her revamped tour itinerary appears below:
